MyWoodEnergy.com FAQs

  1. How do I place an order?

Please Call Us.  We arrange every order personally.

  2. What does delivery cost?

See Delivery Areas & Charges for an alphabetical list of towns and their applicable delivery charges. Other delivery destinations are available upon request.

  3. When will the wood be delivered?

We try to make deliveries according to your schedule — the same or next day whenever possible. Delivery times are typically Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Other times may be available upon request. Local pick-up may also be arranged upon request.

  4. What is pre-stacked and palletized wood?

It is simply wood that has already been dried and stacked neatly onto a pallet. There is no carrying, no stacking and no cleanup required. We can leave the pallets on your paved driveways, or in your garages and carports. Note that the drop-off location must be paved or concrete.

  5. How much wood is in a cord?

128 cubic feet. We guarantee the delivery quantity.

  6. What size are the pieces?

The wood is cut and split into lengths of about 16 to 17 inches.

  7. What’s the difference between seasoned wood and kiln-dried wood?

Seasoned firewood has been cut and split and left out to dry by the natural evaporation of its moisture. This firewood, depending on how and where it is stored, can take up to a year to get down to levels below 20% to become good firewood for burning. Kiln-dried firewood has been cut, split, and heated to rapidly draw down the moisture content of the wood. Both processes will dry the wood, but kiln drying can reduce the moisture content below that of seasoning as well as treat for tree-killing insects and diseases. Hence, the slightly higher pricing.

  8. Why Northeast Master Logger and USDA certified?

MyWoodEnergy is conserving and protecting our natural resources. We use only wood harvested from forests in an environmentally responsible manner by independently-certified Northeast Master Logger Certified (NEMLC) loggers. Also, to prevent the spread of tree-killing insects and diseases, we use only USDA-certified kiln processors.

  9. Do I have to be home for delivery?

No. If no one will be home to receive the delivery, please let us know in advance and then mark the driveway (or other paved surface) where you’d like us to leave the firewood.

  10. Is the wood easy to light?

Yes. Our firewood lights easily and continues to burn all the way through with a hot steady flame because it is hardwood with a moisture content below 20%. In contrast, wood that has above 25% moisture content will typically be difficult to light, tend to steam and smoke, and be hard to keep burning. Soft wood is best for kindling only because it contains a very high amount of resin, causing it to burn fast. Burning soft wood can become a maintenance problem for chimneys.

  11. Do you offer wholesale?

Yes. Please see our Wholesale page.
